Fashionable Fedoras

by Daniel Rodrigues on May 24, 2010

Fedora hats are the hottest fashion access for the 2010 men’s spring fashion season. According to Wikipedia, “A fedora is a felt hat that is creased lengthwise down the crown and pinched in the front on both sides… The brim goes all the way around, and often there will be a hat band as well… The term fedora was in use as early as 1891. Originally a women’s fashion into the 20th century, the fedora came into use in about 1919, as a men’s middle-class clothing accessory. Its popularity soared, and eventually it eclipsed the similar-looking Homburg by the early 1920s.” These fedora hats have been spotted on numerous celebrities, and are considered a fashion must. The hat accents the features of a male with a strong chin and jaw. It gives men a sort of reminiscent 1920s gangster appeal. A few celebrities who have worn these striking accessories are Tom Landry, Michael Jackson, and Daniel Newton. Even Indiana Jones wore a fedora hat! Fedora hats, believe it or not, go with many outfits. The traditional colors for a fedora hat are gray, black, white, and tan. Although in modern day times a fedora hat can be almost any color. An outfit could include: dress shoes, a vest, casual jeans, denim jeans, khaki pants, or almost any other combination you can think of! I recently did a search on the shopping portion of Bing for a fedora hat. The selection was absolutely incredible! The price range was from anywhere about fifteen dollars ($15) to four hundred dollars ($400). Many of the top designers such as: Gucci, Roxy, and Billabong all create styles of fedora hats. On a recent trip to American Eagle, I personally purchased a fedora hat and I honestly can say I was extremely pleased. The hat is comfortable and the style is astonishing for the low price I purchased the hat for. The fedora is having a transition from the stylish appearance of the 1920s American gangster to the sheik, retro appearance of modern day men. See for yourself and go out and purchase a fedora hat today!
